Stress Free Wedding Planning Tips

Tips for a couple on how to stay stress-free while wedding planning

Planning a wedding is a lot of fun, but it can also be overwhelming. There’s so much to organize! But with a few helpful tips, you can enjoy the process and avoid stress in the lead-up to the best day of your life. Here’s our advice for stress-free wedding planning.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

There are two of you getting married, so that means two of you share the responsibility of planning the wedding. You’re embarking on a lifelong partnership, so this is the perfect time to put that teamwork into practice. Two heads are better than one, after all.

Write out a list of everything that needs to be done, and then assign tasks fairly between you both. One of you might have a particular interest in the food, while the other might love creating seating plans. One of you might love scoping out venues, like researching what a wedding at a vineyard would be like, while the other might want to focus on fashion. Utilize your skillsets to make light work of your to-do list. Now’s the time to divide and conquer.

Make Time for Date Nights

Planning a wedding can become all-consuming, so it’s no wonder couples can feel nostalgic for their carefree dating days. You don’t have to lose that spontaneity or spark, however, just because you’re busy wedding planning.

Schedule date nights where wedding talk is strictly off-limits. This will help you both remember exactly why it is you’re getting married in the first place! Go to your favorite restaurant, or take a walk down memory lane at those special places where momentous occasions played out, like your first date, your first kiss, or even your proposal location.

Set Up Couple Pamper Sessions

Treating yourself to a couple’s spa day has so many benefits. You’ll get to unwind and de-stress, helping you let go of any tension. You’ll also get that glow that’ll help you look even more happy and relaxed on your wedding day. It’s a win-win. And when you spend time together being pampered it’s a wonderful bonding experience, too.

You could have side-by-side massages or facials or even go for hair treatment. This is another opportunity to stay stress-free whilst also prepping for the ceremony. You might want to change your hair color or simply get a trim. Whether you want to find out how to make hair thicker for men or how to perfect an updo for women, give yourself plenty of time to prep your hair – and skin – so you can look and feel your best on your big day.

Keep Talking

If particular things are causing stress in the wedding planning, make sure you talk it out together. You know each other better than anyone else in the world, so you’ll be able to help each other through.

It might be that one of you is stressing about thinning hair – and the other will be able to help by researching how to make hair thicker for men. Or one of you is concerned about what wedding favors to choose – and the other will delve right in and come up with a fantastic shortlist of options. Keep talking to each other and sharing your concerns. You’re each other’s biggest support, particularly at this time… and your wedding planner is right there to listen and help, too!

With these tips you can stay stress-free while planning your wedding, and enjoy the process together.

Tess + Ryan's Eiteljorg Wedding: Full Service Wedding Planning & Design

We have been helping Tess, Ryan and Tess’ mom plan their wedding for over a year now! I met Tess when she was a bridesmaids in her friend Natalie’s Hyatt Indianapolis wedding that I helped her plan. I was fortunate enough to have just as much fun planning Tess’ wedding as I did Natalie’s. Tess and her family are kind and organized (two of my favorite qualities). We had so much fun planning all the details from the burgundy toned florals with touches of grey and lilac to the delicious cake their guests enjoyed! We assemebled a fabulous team of vendors: Conforti Photography, Accent Floral Design, Unique Heart Productions, Indiana Statehouse, Eiteljorg Museum, Cute As A Button Cookies, Minted, Kahn’s Catering, and Lakeside Entertainment. See the beautiful images below from Conforti Photography!

Amber + Grady Wedding Video: McDuff Productions

More than 30% of our clients each year live out of state. That allows us to work with some vendors who are local to where our clients are located which is so fun! Below is Amber + Grady’s super fun wedding video from their Indianapolis wedding at Industry. We loved helping them have a fun and flawless day through wedding coordination! Check out all the fun below in one of my favorite wedding videos to date from McDuff Productions

Maddie + Jaron's Lindley Farmstead Wedding: Indianapolis Wedding Planner

I’ve known Maddie for a long time. We grew up riding horses together and I helped her sister with coordination for her wedding a few years back. When Maddie got engaged she decided she needed a bit more help so we were able to help with her full service wedding planning and design. We helped her select each vendor to make the perfect day and every detail along the way. See her sneak peek below from Peter Jonathan Images.

Vendors: Lindley Farmstead, Ritz Charles, Unique Heart Productions, Accent Floral Design, Something Blue Stylists, Lakeside Entertainment, Wow Factors, and Indy Wedding Officiants!

Chelsea + Grady's Newfields Wedding: Indianapolis Wedding Planner

Chelsea + Grady were another one of our couples who did not live in Indianapolis while we planned their wedding. Many of our clients are medical students as Chelsea was. This causes them to be very busy and often out of state. That’s the perfect place for us to be able to step in with wedding coordination to make sure things run flawlessly! It was a rainy summer day but it all came together beautifully for their Newfield wedding! See all the dreamy magic from Isibeal Studios and Kristin Kempson below!

We loved helping Amanda select everything from the flowers to the food. Liz + Terrance's Mavris Wedding Sneak Peek

We are SO excited for Liz + Terrance’s preview from Peter Jonathan Images! We loved helping Liz, Terrance and Liz’s sweet mom plan this wedding while the couple lives out of state. It was a fantastic team that pulled off this beautiful wedding day! You’d never know by the pictures but this was the day the hurricane came to Indiana! One of the many reasons it’s so important to have a seasoned wedding photographer. A day with no outside photos would cause some photographers to freak out or to have a diminished product for the client in the end. Pete wasn’t even bothered one bit and knocked it out of the park with all these beautiful wedding day images below. Thank you: Isibeal Studios, Mavris Arts & Event Center, Something Blue Stylists, Blue House Bridal, Antique Limo, and Sly Band. We can’t wait to see more soon :)

Kathy + Dan's Cyrus Place Wedding

We loved helping Kathy + Dan with all the beautiful details they planned for their Summer wedding at the Cryus Place! These beautiful pictures from Molly Connor Photography show all the fun details. From the beautiful blooms from Accent Floral Design to the delicious cakes (yes, that’s plural!) from Classic Cakes, linens from LGI, and rockin’ band The Doo! It was a dance floor packed all night kind of party! Hoaglin Catering kept everyone full and fueled up to dance. We’re so happy for these two and their kind families!

Allie + Scott's Conrad Indianapolis Wedding Sneak Peek

We loved helping Allie + Scott coordinate their wedding day at the Indianapolis Artsgarden and Conrad Hotel! It was a rainy day but no one let that dampen the fun! Her Fall wedding is at Lindley Farmstead in Westfield and we're so excited to work with the fantastic team from the Ritz Charles to make their big day a success through full service wedding planning! We're having fun picking out all the little details down to the napkins and table setting. See a few of our favorite engagement pictures of theirs below from Peter Jonathan Images!

Katie + Trent Winter Engagement Pictures

In the middle of Summer we are dreaming of this winter engagement shoot with the amazing Violet Short Photography! We're beyond blessed to have Katie and Trent as clients but to also call Katie a teammate and friend! Their magical winter wedding will be later this year and we just can't wait! Katie has the most amazing details in mind for their big day and we can’t wait to bring them to life for her! <3 See all the dreamy winter goodness below!
